To operate electric vehicles, robust and standardized charging infrastructure is essential. In the recent years, open specifications have started to appear to standardize communication within this infrastructure. However, despite these open standards, most implementations remain proprietary, resulting in widespread inconsistencies. In this demo we would like to show how two open source projects are starting the trend towards open implementations of relevant EV charging protocols like OCPP. The open source project EVerst with its charger firmware and the charge station management system CitrineOS will show how you can adopt a charger into your network and execute charging sessions, running open source software.
