LF Energy Summit 2024

The energy transition relies heavily on the combination of specialized power hardware and software, giving rise to Power Electronics. The OwnTech Foundation, an LFE member, has the objective of democratizing access to this key technology through its open-hardware and open-software ecosystem. During this talk we will introduce our hardware and software, explore a few study cases and give a live demo of a stand alone hybrid microgrid. It will include a simulated PV system, a battery system, a DC bus, a grid forming inverter and a simulated diesel generator. Dynamic responses of the system will be explored as well as its potential for testing different control algorithms. We will explore how our solution can be a benchmark system for testing and developing plug-and-play energy systems.
